Noelani Prewitt
Tenant attorney, Prewitt Law
I represent renters in Alameda County in evictions, repairs, deposits and leaving a lease to be safe. I don't represent landlords.
I grew up in a fourplex off International Boulevard, and I remember the week a notice went up on every door. My mother kept ours in a kitchen drawer and didn't sleep. Nobody in the building knew there was a lawyer they could call.
I started this practice to be that call. I keep it small so that you reach me, and so I can say no to the cases I shouldn't take and tell you who should.
What I handle
- Eviction defense
- Repairs and habitability
- Security deposits
- Leaving a lease early for safety

How the office works
Meet on Franklin Street, or never leave your living room
The office is a short walk from the 19th Street BART station, but most cases don't need a visit.
Some clients come in after a shift. Many never come in at all: we talk by phone or video and you send photos of your papers from home. Evening calls are fine if we set a time. If you need an interpreter for a language I don't speak, I'll arrange one at no cost to you.
